How We Break Our Own Heart

It is inconceivable the number of times I have lived and relived the heartbreaks of this lifetime; from the little tiny ones to the great big ones that keep you in disbelief that you’ll live to see another day. All too often this becomes the narrative of our lives… the story that hinders us from being on the pulse of what IS current and more so, the story that keeps the lid on tight to the ways WE have broken our own heart.

We break our own heart every time we hear our Spirit calling us back, and we rush to hit the mute button. We break our own heart when we stay in a job or relationship for too long, knowing how inconsistent it is with who we are and what we truly desire. When we feel this internal rub, when we get the message, we are being given a gift. We are afforded an opportunity to see how many miles we have traveled from the inner knowing of our deepest heartfelt desires. We betray ourselves every time we choose a distraction over, let’s say, putting pen to paper or taking the first step towards starting our own business. We betray ourselves when the voices and opinions of others become louder than our own. We break our own heart when we silence our own Truth and Knowing.

Rather than mercilessly judging ourselves when we do stray off course we can LOVINGLY enter into quietude. We can take a breath and listen. Our antidote is to compassionately give up the stories of our past and start writing new ones; stories that are life affirming and offer us meaning and purpose. We meet ourselves in the labyrinth of life, responding to our Soul’s calling. We put pen to paper.

  1. “Our antidote is to compassionately give up the stories of our past and start writing new ones; stories that are life affirming and offer us meaning and purpose. ” Such an important shift in our lives, if we are fortunate to recognize it.
